JoyCity was founded in 1994 as Chung Media and was later renamed to JC Entertainment in 2000. The company is based in Seongnam, South Korea and as of 2015 has over 300 employees. The company released their first commercially successful online sports game FreeStyle in 2011. The 3D online basketball role playing game was the first ever street basketball game launched in Korea and 2 years after its release reached over 300,000 concurrent users in Korea and China. The game was later introduced to the global market through various game distributors and publishers. The game’s success prompted the release of a sequel, Free Style 2 which also well-received by the global community. JoyCity aims to provide players a wide variety of games through different platforms by hiring employees that are not only skilled but also have the passion to improve and polish their games while providing an experience that is fun and challenging.
