Worlds Adrift Officially Shutting Down Later Today, End Of The World Event Starts At 7am PDT
The high-flying adventures in Bossa Studios’ ship-themed fantasy sandbox MMORPG Worlds Adrift is nearing its end as the studio prepares to shut down its servers later today. The studio first made the unfortunate announcement back in May. “Worlds Adrift just hasn’t reached the level of popularity it needs to continue,” said Bossa Studios.
“The challenges that came with our ambitious project meant that all our work went into making the game work rather than making it the experience we wanted it to be. As a result we failed at making a game that could capture the imaginations of millions. Creating an MMO like Worlds Adrift is a huge financial commitment and unfortunately the game is just no longer commercially viable.”
But, the game won’t be sailing quietly into the sunset. The devs have a special End of the World event planned as a final hurrah. The six-hour event will start on Friday, July 26th at 7am PDT and will be streamed live on the game’s Twitch channel. The devs will also be on hand throughout the stream to answer any questions. The servers will officially be shutting down at 1pm PDT on the same day.
