BattleCry Overview

BattleCry is an upcoming 3D third-person shooter MMO in the vein of class-based multiplayer shooters such as Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch, promising a fast-paced and intense online multiplayer experience. The game takes place in an alternative historical timeline that bans gun powder at the dawn of the 20th century under The Black Powder Treaty, leading to a series of enlightened industrial invention called the Pansophic Revolution that lead to new technology, changing the face of warfare. Choose from a myriad of warriors, factions, and classes that stem from diverse parts of the world, each with their own distinct suite of attacks and abilities. Enter a strategic game arena and fight for power and glory in matches with up to 32 players, using high-tech weapons and brutal attacks to secure victory in battles across the WarZones.

Development History / Background:

BattleCry is being developed by BattleCry Studios, an Austin, Texas based game developer created in 2012, headed by Rich Vogel, a long-time industry professional whose work includes Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies. It was created by ZeniMax Media Inc., owner of Bethesda Game Studios, Arkane Studios, Zenimax Online, id Software, and other notable AAA developers. It is the second ZeniMax game studio in Austin, joining Arkane Studios. BattleCry was announced on May 28, 2014 and began taking beta signups in 2015. The game was canceled according to a leak on January 31, 2017. BattleCry Studios was renamed Bethesda Austin following the cancellation.
