Albion Online Forum Data Breached, Devs Ask Users To Change Their Passwords

albion online hectorSandbox Interactive is asking Albion Online forum users to change their passwords as a precaution following a data breach last week. According to the studio, the hacker was able to gain access forum user profiles, connected email addresses, and encrypted passwords.

“The [encrypted passwords] can NOT be used to log in to Albion Online, the website or the forum, nor can they be used to learn the passwords themselves. However, there is a small possibility they could be used to identify accounts with particularly weak passwords,” wrote Sandbox on the forums. They further assure users that no payment information was accessed and that it would have been impossible for the intruder to gain access to the information in the first place.

Sandbox says that they’ve closed off the vulnerability and are running additional checks to safeguard against future attacks and ensure the integrity of their systems. “Because the safety of your data is a top priority for us, we will also be executing a full security review of all our systems to ensure your information remains absolutely safe,” assured the devs. “We deeply apologize for this incident and any inconvenience caused by this.”

If you have an Albion Online forum account, you can change your password here. The team has also started a dedicated forum thread for any inquiries regarding the data breach.
