ATLAS Details Wild Pirate Encampments & Non-Dedicated Multiplayer In Their Latest Dev Update

atlas flintlock encampment bannerPirate survival MMORPG Atlas is getting a host of new features in upcoming updates as Grapeshot Games Community Manager Dollie reveals in the latest Captain’s Log. Of particular note is the addition of Wild Pirate Encampments that players will have to clear before they can claim an island.

“’Wild Pirate Encampments’ (WPE) are collections of enemy NPC characters, defensive fleets, and fortifications which inhabit claimable islands. They have varying weapons (melee and ranged), defenses (various cannons/turret types), and live in pre-built forts. They’ll also have AI ships representing all 4 classes (Sloop through to Galleon) patrolling the shoreline of their islands. The placement of Encampments will be randomized along the islands, and they can also include inland encampments without ships. You’ll have to explore an island to discover all the encampments which inhabit it, and the number can vary based on the island size, with larger islands having bigger and more Encampments. Each region will also have a WPE Level visible to players, some being higher than others resulting in better loot but a more challenging task.”

A Non-Dedicated Multiplayer option will also be making its way to the game. The new option will allow players to host a server of up to 8 players while also playing the game on the same machine. The host will also have the ability to adjust server settings and tweak the game’s .ini files depending on the group’s needs.

The Non-Dedicated Multiplayer mode is scheduled to roll out this week while the Wild Pirate Encampments will make their appearance by the end of the month.
