First-person shooter fans eagerly-awaiting the next Battlefield release won’t have long to wait as open beta testing for Battlefield 2042 is set to begin next week.

The limited-time open beta kicks off on all platforms on October 8th while those who pre-ordered the game will get to jump into the frontlines two days earlier on October 6th. The test will run until October 10th which means you’ll only have 48 hours to blow stuff up and shoot each other in the face (96 hours if you coughed up $60 for the game).

Battlefield 2042 allows up to 128 players to fight it out in a variety of maps and game modes. The upcoming game will also feature an RPG-like progression system that will allow players to unlock weapons and masteries as they earn XP and level up from matches.

“Battlefields changing before your eyes. A cutting-edge arsenal at your disposal. The grand return of all-out warfare. Adapt and overcome in massive-scale 128 player battles where dynamic storms, environmental hazards, total combat freedom, and Battlefield's signature destruction spark a new breed of Only in Battlefield moments.”
