The gaming world is no stranger to passionate players, but sometimes that passion can turn into unnecessary toxicity. The developers behind the Battlefield series are feeling the brunt of this toxicity as players “passionately” voice their disappointment over the series, particularly with Battlefield 2042.

In a recent letter to the community, DICE and other Battlefield developers waved the white flag of peace, begging players to put an end to the recent wave of harassment against the studio’s employees. “Across all of our Battlefield studios we are open to constructive feedback and criticism about our games," wrote the devs. “But to maintain a healthy and open dialogue with our community, we will protect our teams and people from toxicity and harassment. We believe this has no place inside our game or within the Battlefield community.”

Meanwhile, Battlefield 2042 players are still petitioning for refunds even as DICE’s general manager works to make good on his promise to focus solely on the game for the time being. So far, he’s managed to keep that promise for the past four seasons.
