Black Desert Online PC Gets Tier 5 Pets, New Blacksmithing Functions, And More
Pearl Abyss has made life for Black Desert Online PC players just a little bit better in this week’s update. Front and center is the addition of Tier 5 and Alpha pets. Players can now train up their faithful from Tier 4 to Tier 5 and will be able to designate one of those Tier 5 pets as an Alpha Pet.
“Alpha Pets will keep other pets in your pack in line to make sure they will all work together to aid you in your adventures,” said Pearl Abyss. “The Alpha Pet's Talent will increase by 1 additional level, and their ‘Pack Leader’ skill will increase the looting speed of all of your other pets nearby.”
“We originally designed the Tier 5 pets to boast a greater variety of skills or effects, akin to an upgraded Tier 4 pet, so to speak,” the studio added. “However, we felt that the process to "upgrade" to a Tier 5 pet would prove too taxing on our Adventurers, so we decided to change the focus to increasing the pet looting speeds.”
Tier 4 pets must have reached Level 10 before they can be trained up to Tier 5. This can be done by completing the “[Pet] Domesticated Squabbles” from the Black Spirit before speaking to the Obi Bellen the owl at the Old Wisdom Tree in Kamasylvia to unlock the Tier 5 Pet Training button. Training a Tier 5 pet will require one Royal Plume which can be crafted through the Simple Alchemy menu.
The update also improves Blacksmithing functions with the addition of a “Repair” button that will repair all items in need of repairing regardless of whether they’re equipped or in the inventory, including horse, ship, and guild gear. A lock function and “Select All” button has also been added to the Extract Outfit window to make extracting appearances more efficient and prevent the accidental extraction of outfit and costume appearances.
Lastly, musically-inclined players have several new instruments to play with – the Florchestra Contrabass, Marnibass, and new Marnian piano preset sounds.
The update also introduces a couple of class balance tweaks, Arena of Solare adjustments, the new Heart of Kutum item to upgrade sub-weapons, and a whole host of game improvements and bug fixes. The full patch notes can be found on the Black Desert Online official site.
