Bless Unleashed Lead Designer Talks About Combat Changes Coming To Open Beta

bless unleashed pvp bannerBless Unleashed developers Round 8 Studio and Neowiz are gearing up for the game’s first open beta test and will be making changes to the combat system based on feedback gathered from closed beta. Lead Designer Jeomsul Park highlights these upcoming changes in a new dev blog.

According to Park, most of the feedback they received centered on the game’s combat system and how the controls felt sluggish. To fix this, movement speed, attack speed, and dodge speed have been increased for all classes. Combat animations have also been revamped to minimize delay and make it easier to chain combos. Weaker combo attacks are now faster to execute but stronger attacks will still take longer to perform.

“In many action games attacks which have a high damage or powerful effect attached to them also have a longer animation or otherwise take more time to perform,” explains Park. “We believe that this kind of cost is very valuable, as it ultimately feels more exciting if a player swings his sword to land a heavy blow dealing lots of damage instead of the same amount of damage being done by a quick, short attack.”

The targeting system has also been improved which should make it easier to lock on and switch between targets. A new control scheme has also been introduced which will allow players to use the trigger buttons to attack instead of the R-Stick and Face buttons.
