We’ve got bad news for all of you Capsuleers out there. CCP Games has announced that they will be raising Omega subscription fees and PLEX prices in EVE Online starting on May 17th.

The price of a one-month Omega subscription will increase from $14.99 to $19.99 with discounts for longer subscriptions. The cost of a two-month subscription, for example, would just be double the price of a single month’s sub while the 24-month package offers over $200 worth of savings which is a good deal if you’re in it for the long haul.

PLEX prices will also be going up from $2 for around 50 PLEX to $2.50 for the same amount. Again, you’ll get a better price by buying in bulk.

“To continue investing in EVE Online’s evolution and growth, and to realize our mission of EVE Forever, we are updating the price of all existing Omega and PLEX,” announced CCP. “This adjustment reflects global trends impacting general production costs and accounts for years of inflation, amending the 1-month USD subscription rate for the first time since 2004. These adjustments will have an impact on other currencies.”

CCP Games has yet to reveal how they plan to handle existing long-term subscriptions since they’re probably already paid for in advance. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear word from the studio.

Needless to say, the EVE Online community isn’t happy with the news, especially after last months pay-to-win controversy, and are venting it out on the official forums.
