D&D-Inspired Indie MMORPG Reign Of Darkness Is Now Available On Steam Early Access

reign of darkness foggy pillar bannerReign of Darkness, a new Dungeons & Dragons-inspired dark fantasy MMORPG by one-man indie-developer Unorthodox Studio, has just launched into Steam Early Access. The game is described as a tab-targetting, theory-crafting dungeon runner based on classic D&D concepts and principles.

The game is still in the early stages of development but the developer assures players that the game is playable in its current state. “Reign of Darkness is an Early Access game with a lot of content already created,” he says, “but it's still missing some mechanics, elements, storytelling, strategical aspects to the game-play, and it is not yet localized for all languages.”

As it is, the game offers players a “vertical slice” of the core gameplay and mechanics with 2 public zones, approximately 30 quests, 120 skills and abilities, Werewolf shape-shifting, and 3 dungeon instances that players will have to locate themselves. “Once located, dungeon/instances are designed for solo or team play with a maximum of 5 team members, and are always set to the player’s level or team leader's level (+3 or -3),” explains the developer.

Reign of Darkness is expected to remain in Early Access for 10 to 14 months with new content, tweaks, and fixes being rolled out on a regular basis.

The game is currently priced at $19.99 on Steam. Check out the gameplay video below for a glimpse of what the game has to offer. You can also head over to the Reign of Darkness Steam Page for more details.
