Sci-fi survival shooter Dysterra has kicked off its second season and drops its first major update since its early access in November. The Season 2 update adds two brand-new maps: The Bunker, which is a free-for-all PvP map, and The Hyena Den for solo PvE players.

The meaty season update also introduces new map functionality, three new guns, a new ammo type, a boatload of new recovery items, new mutant NPCs, new Hyena NPCs, a turret buff, level 4 base parts, base protection debuffs, a streaming mode, tutorial improvements, and a revamp of how global PvP and PvE rankings are calculated.

“We want a player’s global ranking to reflect their overall skill in the game, but we also don’t want to discourage players from trying out PvE or Hardcore if they feel like it.,” said Kakao Games. “That’s why we’ve added weights to the points. PvE will be scored in the global rankings exactly the same way as it is now. PvP will have a x1.5 weight on any points earned. Hardcore will have a x2.3 weight on any points earned.”

Kakao notes that the current values aren’t set in stone and might be adjusted over time as necessary. Meanwhile, the game is currently free-to-play on Steam until February 6th for anyone who want to give it a spin. The free-play period will include access to all game content, although the team failed to mention whether progress will carry over should you decide to buy in. The game itself is on sale at 30% off until February 9th if you’re planning on buying it.
