Epic Games Buys $95M Mall For Their Global Headquarters

epic games cary towne center bannerA struggling mall in Cary, North Carolina will have a brighter future ahead of it after Epic Games acquired the property with plans to convert it into their global headquarters. The Cary-based studio bought the Cary Towne Center for $95 million dollars, giving them 98,000 square feet of space to work with that’s perfectly situated just down the road from their current headquarters.

“We plan to commence development of our new headquarters this year with the goal of converting the property into our new campus by 2024,” said Epic Games.

Buying a whole mall might seem a bit excessive but considering that Epic Games employs around 2,200 employees worldwide, they’re going to need all the space they can get. They won’t be using the entire space for their headquarters either. According to the Triangle Business Journal, Epic is working with the Town of Cary to build a $193 million community recreation and sports center on the site.

“We’re extremely proud that Epic has chosen to call Cary home for their new global headquarters, and we greatly appreciate the company’s recognition of Cary’s existing assets as well as the unlimited potential of the area for their growing business,” said Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht.
