Epic Games Is In The Middle Of A Legal Battle Over Another Fortnite Dance Emote

fortnite hollowhead outfit bannerEpic Games is on the verge of another legal battle over another Fortnite dance emote. This time around, it’s the Halloween-themed “Pump It Up” emote that’s taking the flak from the Dancing Pumpkin Man himself, Matt Geiler. Geiler is threatening to sue the studio for “stealing” his groovy dance moves if they don’t comply with the cease and desist order.

Epic, however, has filed a non-infringement claim with the New York Southern District Court detailing why the emote is different from Geiler’s video. Epic also claims that they had already entered into a license agreement with Geiler back in August to use “audio-visual work” in the video in Fortnite. In addition, Epic also claims that Geiler acknowledged the agreement with a post and comment on Facebook saying that, “Luckily they did a licensing deal with me ahead of time!”
