Eterspire, a low-poly browser-based MMORPG from indie studio Stonehollow Workshop, has transitioned to a full-blown mobile MMORPG and is now available to download and play for free on the App Store for iOS users.

According to the devs, they had initially intended to release a separate version of the game called Eterspire: Return of Salgaraak. The project, however, was ultimately scrapped due to design issues which is around the same time that the studio decided to make the jump to mobile. While most indie studios tend to shy away from Apple’s distribution platform, the studio notes that the App Store itself isn’t the problem so much as bad monetization practices and bad game design.

The light-hearted fantasy MMORPG will also be heading to Android at some point in the future. Stonehollow also hasn’t dismissed the possibility of the Eterspire launching on PC and Mac and assures the community that all microtransactions will be purely cosmetic and that they have absolutely no plans on turning it into an auto-pathing, AFK-combat, idle game.
