After a short stint on the EVE Online Singularity test server, CCP Games has officially rolled out the Grand Heist update on the live servers. As we reported last week, the update introduces new gameplay mechanics that allows players to steal millions of ISK from reserve banks scattered across New Eden. But before they can do that, they’ll first have to steal ESS keys from Secure Commerce Commission sites in Lowsec.

“There are eight types of reserve keys to be found, and each has a corresponding quadrant of the map where it can be used and a duration that it will hold the reserve bank open,” explained the devs. “Be warned, though, trespassing into a reserve bank will alert the entire region, so make sure that you and your crew have planned an airtight heist which lets you hold the grid for the duration of the unlock!”

As part of the update, players will also get daily login gifts from now until August 3. Players who login a total of six days during the event will be rewarded with skill points, boosters, and for Omega subscribers, a total of 235 million ISK. Market fees and taxes have also been cut by half for the next three months which makes this the perfect time to beef up your ISK savings.

Several members of the community, however, have voiced their concerns about the 235 million ISK reward for Omega clones, saying that the cash dump might lead to inflation and mess up the game’s player-run economy. Others feel that the amount won’t be enough to cause any noticeable change in the market.
