EverQuest Progression Server Releases First Expansion

Ruins of Kunark

A community vote on the EverQuest forums okay'd the release of The Ruins of Kunark for the time-locked progression servers. Kunark was the first expansion to release for EverQuest, on April 24, 2000. The level cap is raised from 50 to 60, 'epic quests' are introduced for each character class, and the new continent Kunark is eager to be explored.

After 21 expansions and a level-cap sitting at 105 EverQuest no longer resembles its original incarnation. The two progressions servers, Ragefire and Lockjaw, were launched to rekindle the original 1999 experience of playing.

The progression server community is asked to vote on whether or not they want additional content added. Originally, Daybreak Games stated that expansions would only be decided on every six months. But, due to overwhelming demand from players Daybreak decided to push the vote after just three months for the Ragefire server. While Lockjaw will remain on a six-month cycle. Players are able to freely transfer characters back and forth between the two servers.
