We’re still a few months away from the release of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, but you can get a feel for the upcoming expansion and check to see if your PC can handle the massive graphical upgrade that comes with it via the official Dawntrail benchmark tool that went live over the weekend.

The tool will subject your PC hardware to a battery of graphical and processing tests that will tell you how well Dawntrail will perform on your rig or whether you’ll be able to run it at all, especially since the expansion will come with new minimum system requirements and will discontinue support for several older CPUs.

Here are the new minimum system requirements:

  • Intel Core I7-770
  • NVIDIA Geforce GTX970 (4GB) or higher; or AMD Radeon RX 480 or higher
  • DirectX 11
  • 140 GB HDD space

Aside from making the 14-year-old MMORPG significantly prettier, Dawntrail also promises better anti-toxicity and anti-harassment features. That includes an improved blacklisting system that will allow players to actually hide and prevent interactions from all characters on the account of a blacklisted, evicted, or muted player rather than simply muting them from chat. The current blacklisting system will remain in place as a muting system instead.

The expansion will also introduce the highly requested estate expulsion system that will allow players to forcibly remove a toxic player from an estate and prevent them from stepping foot in it for 10 days. You will, however, need to manually expel them again after 10 days if you want to keep the offending player out indefinitely.

Dawntrail is slated to launch on PC and consoles on July 2, with pre-order early access set to begin on June 28. In the meantime, you can check out the actual clip that’s being used in the benchmark tool in the new trailer below.
