final fantasy xiv shadowbringers character artAfter the Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers early access launch last week, eagerly waiting Warriors of Darkness can finally step into the First World as the expansion officially launches on Windows, Steam, Mac, and PlayStation 4. This summer’s biggest and most-awaited expansion brings with it a ton of new features including the new Gunbreaker and Dancer Jobs.

“Shadowbringers marks a bold new beginning, taking players beyond the world of Hydaelyn™ for the first time as they journey to the First and the realm of Norvrandt. The Warrior of Light must become the Warrior of Darkness to restore night and save the world from the apocalypse the Flood of Light promises.”

The expansion also brings with it the new Viera and Hrothgar races, increases the level cap to 80, and introduces the new Trust System, new Beast Tribes and Primals, a new Alliance Raid, and the new “Eden” High-End Raid.

According to Square Enix, the release of the expansion has brought player numbers up to record-breaking numbers. “The enthusiasm for Shadowbringers has brought FINAL FANTASY XIV to new heights, with the active player base reaching its highest mark in the game’s nearly six-year history.”

The studio is hoping to boost player numbers even more with their latest free trial offering. New players who register for the pre-trial will be able to create eight playable characters from different races, classes and jobs, and will have access to all content up to level 35, without any playtime restrictions. Interested players can register for the free trial here.
