The Norwegian video game developer reveals 2018 to be their most profitable year ever. According to CEO Rui Casais, the studio’s success is largely due to the official launch of Conan Exiles in May last year.

“2018 is our best year to date. A year marked by the full release of Conan Exiles, by the acquisition of 50% of the IP rights for Conan and other properties for games, by the investment from Swedbank Robur to fuel our publishing strategy and by the launch of our first published game under this strategy – Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden.”

Casais also announced that they’ve teamed up with Legendary Entertainment for a six-year exclusive partnership to develop at least three game’s based on Frank Herbert’s beloved sci-fi series, DUNE. “DUNE is one of the world’s best-known science fiction universes and a personal favourite of mine,” says Casais. “To work on DUNE games is a dream come true for many of us in Funcom. We will talk more about what we will do in this fantastic universe in the future.”

The studio’s Q4 financials also reveal a Q2 2019 release for the RTS Conan Unconquered, a Funcom IP game by Rock Pocket due for release on Halloween, and a Heroic Signatures IP multiplayer coop shooter from Funcom North Carolina.
