Square Enix announced yesterday that its latest free-to-play mobile RPG, Guardian Codex, has launched on Android and iOS worldwide. The title sees players become agents of "the Resistance" in a fight against "the Empire." They are sent into the "the virtual 'Codex' where they must find and and capture the legendary Guardians."

Gameplay consists of players capturing Guardians and assembling teams of them, which are then used in battles against other Guardians. Battles are turn-based, taking inspiration from classic JRPGs. Much like Mobius Final Fantasy, there is a multiplayer mode in which up to four players can join together and take on more difficult opponents.

Guardian Codex is available now on the App Store and Google Play. As the game's pre-registration event was successful, bringing in over 300,000 pre-registrations, anyone that downloads the game will be given "a 4-Star Banshee Guardian, 6,000 Codex Credits, and five Magic Stones (III)." A login event that awards additional Codex Credits to players each day that they log in will begin on November 6th.
