Guild Wars 2’s highly-awaited Sky Pirates update has officially rolled out on the live servers, bringing with it the first Elder Dragon skins for their Aurene Legendary weapons. This batch of Elder Dragon Skins is inspired by the Elder Dragon of Death and Shadow – Zhaitan.

“The first collection of skins is inspired by the Elder Dragon Zhaitan. This inscrutable undead horror was driven to corrupt Tyria with rot and ruin, commanding hordes of Risen minions from its lair in the fallen nation of Orr.”

“After binding an Aurene-based legendary weapon to your Legendary Armory, you’ll receive a letter from Leivas, who will ask you to visit either Aurene’s Enclave in Seitung Province or the Exchange in Arborstone (to use the Exchange, you must first complete the Arborstone Revitalization Mastery track),” said ArenaNet. Speaking to Leivas will unlock the Arms of a New Cycle achievement, which is part of a new meta-achievement, The Legendary Facets of Aurene.”

Players will then need to purchase scale splinters from Levias which they’ll need to create a Scale Fragment of Zhaitan. After purifying the scale and beginning their Aurene’s Facet of Shadow collection, they’ll then need to journey to the explorable zones in Orr and complete its events to obtain fragmented Elder Dragon memories and continue to the next step of the collection.

“After you complete the full collection, you’ll receive a Fragment of Prismatic Shadows, which you can use to obtain a Zhaitan-based legendary weapon skin for any of the Aurene-based legendary weapons bound to your account,” explained the devs. “Repeat the Aurene’s Facet of Shadows achievement to collect the entire set of sixteen skins, and you’ll unlock the Facet of Shadow and Death title.”

If Zhaitan doesn’t jive with you, more skins inspired by the five remaining Elder Dragons will be added in future releases. Details can be found on the Guild Wars 2 official site. The Sky Pirates update also features the return of Living World Season 1’s newly-revamped episode, Sky Pirates of Tyria (now simply known as Sky Pirates).
