Hi-Rez Studios Announces New MMORPG: World Of SMITECraft

Hi-Rez studios has announced they are venturing once again into the MMORPG genre with the announcement of World of SMITECraft. The game is still in the early stages, and not yet ready for Alpha testing. The game will feature 9 classes, split between two factions, in a sprawling fantasy world brimming with dungeons, raids, quests, dailies, mounts, guilds, and more. On paper World of SMITECraft resembles another MMORPG already out on the market.

Hi-Rez COO Todd Harris responded to allegations of IP lifting:

We started working on World of SMITE before the creation of Hi-Rez, but shelved the project to focus on our other priorities. Essentially all of the game's assets are taken from initial work done on Tribes, and in no way has anything to do with Blizzard's World of Warcraft.

When World of SMITECraft releases, it will join a nascent but bustling SMITE franchise, including the smite MOBA, mobile card game SMITE Rivals (shelved for now), and SMITE Tactics. There is no release date as of yet, and will likely be a while before we hear any additional information.
