Left 4 Dead Spiritual Successor Back 4 Blood Kicks Off Open Beta On August 12

Heads up Left 4 Dead and zombie shooter fans! Turtle Rock Studios and Warner Bros. Games have announced the open beta schedule for their co-op first-person zombie shooter Back 4 Blood. The open beta test will run from August 12-16 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One with cross-play and cross-gen support. An exclusive early access period will also be available from August 5-9 for those who pre-ordered the game.

“Back 4 Blood is a first-person co-op zombie shooter from the creators of the critically acclaimed Left 4 Dead franchise and features thrilling, dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay and highly variable, customizable action to keep players coming back for more. The Back 4 Blood story takes place after a catastrophic outbreak where most of humanity has either been killed or infected by the parasitic Devil Worm. Hardened by unspeakable events and emboldened to fight for the last of humanity, a group of apocalypse veterans called the Cleaners have rallied to take on the infected horrors known as the Ridden and reclaim the world.”

The open beta build will feature the new “Swarm” PvP mode where two teams of four players face off in a best-of-three match, swapping between Cleaners and Ridden every round. Players can also look forward to new campaign content, a new Cleaner called Mom, and two co-op maps where they’ll get to fight off the Ridden with friends.
