Mainframe Industries, a new studio founded by veteran developers from CCP Games, Next Games, and Remedy, have secured €20 million (around $22.5 million) in a recently-concluded Series B funding round.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, majority of the funds raised came from several big names in the industry, including Twitch Co-founder Kevin Lin, CCP Games CEO Hilmar Petursson, Dreamhaven Founder and CEO Mike Morhaime, and King (Candy Crush) Founder Riccardo Zacconi.

The funding will go towards the development of the studio’s ambitious cloud-powered open-world social sandbox MMO that Mainframe Co-founder and CEO Thor Gunnarsson describes as, “a persistent living world that people will call their home for years and hopefully decades.”

Mainframe Industries will also be using the funds to expand their existing offices in Reykjavik, Helsinki, and Paris. The studio also raised $8.3 million in a Series A funding round held in March.
