Metro Series Developer 4A Games Talks About Multiplayer And Teases New AAA Game

4a games metro 2033 10th anniversary banner4A Games, the developers of the Metro series of games, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Metro 2033 with a few announcements. The first one is that the studio is now working on bringing Metro Exodus to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and X next year. According to 4A, fans of the game should expect increased resolution, higher framerates, and the addition of ray tracing.

The team is also looking at creating a multiplayer game set in the Metro universe following their acquisition by Saber Interactive earlier this year. “As a small studio we have never been able to do justice to these ambitions, and our ideas have never made it beyond the prototype phase,” says the studio. “But with Saber’s experience in online gaming, we are now actively exploring multiplayer concepts that will offer a new way to experience the world of Metro.”

“We’re not looking at multiplayer as a box-ticking exercise, or to jump on some trend or bandwagon,” the team adds. “We’re also committed to ensuring that whatever we do, it’s not to the detriment of our single-player ambitions. We’ll need a dedicated team focused solely on the online component, and this is what our new partnership with Saber can bring; years of expertise, technology, and know-how to help us realise our ambitions.”

4A Games also teased a new AAA project that can “sit alongside the Metro series.” The studio also has a reputation for being quiet whenever they’re working on a project. They’re now promising to change that and will be thinking up ways to communicate more with fans through the forums, social media, and other channels. “[. . .] We have a goal to be more responsive and communicative as we embark on these next projects, so please stay tuned to our social channels for updates.”
