If you’re a fan of PvP battlegrounds in MMORPGs but would rather not go through all the grind, then Soul Kingdoms might be right up your alley. The upcoming MMO-lite from Seattle-based Power Proc Studios promises all of the fun of battlegrounds without level restrictions. There will still be a progression system of some sort but the devs have yet to reveal specifics.

“Soul Kingdoms is an upcoming MMO-Lite that aims to deliver exciting PvP on-demand! Our mission at Power Proc Studios is to create something that we ourselves truly want to play. As avid MMO PvP'ers we have felt without a home for a while now. That is something we seek to change with the creation of Soul Kingdoms.”

“We love PvP'ing in MMORPGs, but that experience often comes with a lot of added baggage,” explained the devs. “In Soul Kingdoms you will be able to start PvP'ing on Day 1. There will still be Character Progression, but you won't find a perpetual list of tasks to constantly keep up with. Instead, you will be able to obtain everything you need by participating in the activities you enjoy.”

The battlegrounds themselves will be a mix of small-scale and large-scale battles with various maps to choose from. The combat system will be action-oriented with abilities that require either real-time aiming or soft-locking onto targets using the mouse.

Power Proc Studios is planning to launch a milestone-based crowdfunding campaign through the game’s official site with stretch goals to unlock additional game features. The campaign is scheduled to start sometime in October and a full development roadmap coming soon. A target release date has yet to be announced.
