Mordhau Sells Nearly 500K Copies And Reaches 60K Concurrency In Just One Week
It’s been a week since indie-developed MMO Mordhau officially launched on Steam and the game is racking up quite a following. According to the Triternion’s first week recap, the medieval multiplayer slasher has sold nearly 500,000 and peaked at 60,000 concurrent users as of yesterday.
“It's been one hell of a ride thus far, and it's only been 7 days. None of us would've expected this reception in our wildest dreams. [. . .] These are just mindblowing numbers to us, and we still haven't fully realized that MORDHAU is currently among the top played games on Steam.”
Of course, game launches rarely go as planned and Triternion had their fair share of problems to deal with on launch day. “Unfortunately, the launch wasn't as smooth as we had hoped,” said the devs. “Server performance was abysmal and reward drops such as Gold and XP, as well as unlocks were not functioning properly.”
The devs are also in the process of setting up additional servers in some regions which may affect the game’s matchmaking system along with a few matchmaking-related bugs. The devs, however, report that they’re on top of things and that most launch issues have already been fixed. They will also be doling out compensation for lost Gold and XP with the next patch.
Launch issues aside, players can look forward to new game modes in the future including Ranked/Competitive modes and Duels. The new Castello and Feitoria maps are currently in mid-production. New armor pieces, weapon skins, and new options to customize characters will also be rolled out down the line. Oh, and mod freaks will also be happy to know that Modding Tools are part of the development roadmap.
You can snag a copy of Mordhau on the game’s official site for $26.99 or on Steam for $29.99. You can also check out the official trailer below if you haven’t seen it along with 20 minutes of frontline gameplay footage. Have at it!
