New Game Platform Coherence Unveiled By Unity And Playdead Co-Founders

coherence logo black bgMMOs take a lot of time to develop, we’re talking about months, if not years, of development before they’re even worthy of playtesting. Then along comes Coherence to challenge the norms of video game development. Coherence is an ambitious new open cloud platform from Unity co-founder David Helgason and Playdead co-founder Dino Patti.

Coherence aims to help studios of any size easily build scalable and persistent virtual worlds. The startup also hopes to level the playing field for multiplayer game developers. “We are creating an open, accessible and democratized process for making and playing connected games,” says the company website. “We enable everyone, from indies to large studios, to easily make experiences that can foster online interactions between millions.”

The platform can easily be integrated with any game engine which, according to the website, will allow developers to create working demos in just a few minutes.

Coherence is scheduled to launch in 2020 with Alpha and Beta tests planned for later this year. Check out the platform’s official site to learn more.
