New Magic: Legends Dev Diary Spotlights The Beastcaller Class

magic legends beastcaller concept art bannerCalling all Magic: The Gathering fans! Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios has just published a new Magic Legends dev diary showcasing the Beastcaller class and the design inspiration for the animal-loving melee fighter.

“The Beastcaller personifies the primal might associated with green mana and the beasts it brings to life, drawing inspiration from two very famous Magic planeswalkers. Garruk Windspeaker serves as the primary design inspiration and speaks to the untamed bestial essence of nature. The second source of inspiration, Nissa Revane, harnesses the restorative and elemental aspects of green mana. Our overarching goal was to give players a sturdy character that is equally capable of cutting down the opposition with natural forces and supporting their allies.”

The Beastcaller makes quickwork of her enemies with a massive axe and a small army of creatures by her side. During solo play, Beastcallers have the ability to make their army of summoned creatures more efficient with tactical buffs and decimate their opponents with powerful spells. As a member of a group, they can heal their teammates and still deal decent damage to enemies.

Watch the Beastcaller in action in the gameplay video after the break. You can also head over to the Magic: Legends official site to learn more about the class.
