Aside from adding a new weapon, New World’s latest “Into the Void” update also included a whole host of balance tweaks and changes from the starter zone all the way up to the endgame. Some of these changes were aimed at making Elite POIs more challenging by buffing both the mobs and the elite bosses in the area.

Unfortunately, the team seems to have overdone it and have also inadvertently lowered the drop rates in Elite POIs which has resulted in a whole lot of grumbling from players on Reddit. Players are also complaining about so-called “ninja nerfs and buff”, or undocumented changes included in the latest update, not to mention the seemingly endless bugs and new exploits that keep popping up every few days or so.

Amazon addresses the issues in two separate dev blogs on the official forums. The first blog talks about the changes made to Elite POIs and the reason behind them, while the second one addresses existing bugs, performance problems, and other ongoing issues in the game.

“Recently changes were made to the Elite POIs in the end game zones and it is clear to us that proper context wasn’t delivered on why those changes were made,” said Amazon. “Our goal is to have a variety of areas that players can go to for crafting materials and gear. But with new gear and equipment, we want players to be challenged.”

“Our vision for end game is multifaceted, and includes Outpost Rush and Wars, Invasions and Arenas, 60+ Corrupted breaches, 60+ Elite POIs and named creatures, and Expeditions, with more to come in the future. There will not be one single source for best in slot and our desire is to encourage players to engage with various activities.”

The team also assured players that they’re investigating the issues with Elite Chest drop rates and that they’ll continually be monitoring activities and rewards balance to ensure that players don’t waste too much time in the endgame.

As for the undocumented changes, Amazon said that it wasn’t intentional and that most of the changes were ready to be deployed months before the game’s official launch. “This long time frame and the size of the patch, led to a number of changes that we missed in the release notes. This wasn’t intentional, and we are working to improve our processes to ensure more accurate release notes in the future,” they said.

Meanwhile, players continue to report new bugs and other weirdness, including kicking everyone out of the server and server time jumping months ahead into the future.
