Amazon Game Studio has kicked off a new New World developer video series called

in Aeternum that will cover basically everything that the sandbox MMORPG has to offer. In the first episode, Game Director Scot Lane sits down with the game’s Creative Director David Ferfaille and Senior Product Manager Drew Higbee to talk about various play styles and their favorite ways to play the game.

Being a sandbox game, there’s no set path for you to take in New World and every player’s approach is different. Some players follow a more rigid approach to designing their builds, like Drew who uses a spreadsheet to plan out his builds and keep track of objectives, while others prefer a more freeform approach to designing builds or a good mix between the two. According to Verfaile, there’s even one player who decided to avoid the marketplace altogether and managed to create a fully self-sufficient character.

The team also touches on various subjects related to playstyle including the pros and cons of crafting items versus buying them. Regardless of your approach, it’s a highly-debated subject that goes back to when the first MMORPG’s came out. At the end of the day though, it’s all about your personal preferences and having fun.
