Amazon Game Studios is making a few final adjustments to New World as they prepare for the game’s official launch in August. The first part of the June Alpha update is now live bringing with it an exhaustive list of fixes as well as a few significant gameplay tweaks and new character customization options.

The latest Alpha update introduces yet another round of progression adjustments in an effort to counteract the effects of the May rebalancing update. The changes inadvertently resulted in players outleveling content which is why the devs have decided to reduce XP gained from Corrupted Breaches and Faction and PvP missions while also increasing the amount of XP required to level up after level 7 by 40%.

Additionally, they’ve also increased XP gained from exploration activities such as discovering lore pages and POIs to encourage players to explore the game world.

“Players in the Alpha are leveling faster than we expected, faster than the content, and as a result, they're missing some cool quests and POIs,” said Amazon. “The goal of this change is to better align progression with the content in the game.”

The update also adds 50 new armor sets and streamlines the Main Menu and initial character creation UI. On the subject of character creation, the team has also added a whole host of new character customization options, including new hair styles, faces, eye colors, facial hair styles, skin features, tattoos, and scars.

You can check out the full release notes on the New World official site. The game itself launches on August 31 on PC.
