New World Server Transfers Begin Today With A Short Testing Period

After a short delay to ensure uninterrupted weekend gaming, Amazon Game Studios is finally ready to begin the server transfer process after today’s maintenance period.

Once the servers are back online, the team will begin testing the system on the Utopia server in the Asia Pacific region to ensure that everything works as it should and no characters get lost or damaged in the process. Barring any unexpected issues, the rest of the Asia Pacific region will get to transfer their characters followed by the other remaining regions.

“Our plan is to monitor the framework we created without turning transfers on immediately. Once we have confirmed that the framework holds up at scale, we will turn on character server transfers in the Utopia world first, in the AP Southeast region. We will closely monitor transfers in this world, and if anything out of the ordinary occurs our team will need to make manual interventions. If all goes well, we will turn it on for the rest of the AP Southeast region, and continue monitoring. If after 8 hours our team hasn’t discovered any issues, we will fully deploy character server transfers to the other regions.”

To transfer a character to a different server, players will need to claim a one-time free transfer token from the cash shop, abandon their Company, remove any active buy and sell orders in the Trading Post, and make their way to a settlement or outpost. All character progression, quest progress, faction alliance and progress, currency, inventory, storage, houses, and housing decorations will be transferred with the character.

Characters can be moved to any server in their region as long as it’s not full, no other characters were created there, and it’s not in maintenance. You can check out the video below for a visual guide on how to transfer your character, or you can also head over to the New World official site for written instructions.
