Phantasy Star Online 2 Gets A Tricky New Urgent Escort Quest

SEGA has just introduced a new urgent quest in Phantasy Star Online 2 that’s as tricky as they come. Queen’s Nightmare: Earth Depths will task ARKs with escorting a very sensitive particle cannon to within range of a target and engaging said target within 60 minutes. Here’s how it will go down:

“Reports have indicated that the Guardian has recently encountered Apprentice the Vernal in Alternate Dimension: Omega while exploring the Epyk Desert. In order to combat this Dark Falz, ARKS will be deploying a Mobile High Output Photon Particle Cannon, and operatives will need to escort it to within range of Apprentice before engaging the menace. If this object is destroyed, retreat immediately to your Gateway Ship – as the mission will be considered a failure. The weapon is sensitive to bumps and vibrations, so be aware that moving the structure will slowly weaken it, and successful attacks by enemies will also cause damage. Along the route, mana crystals and demonicite outcrops can be used to repair the particle cannon.”

In other PSO2 news, SEGA is working on releasing a fully-revamped version of the game next year called New Genesis. The revamped version will not only come with improved visuals but will also feature a more MMO-like feel with more open fields instead of instanced zones, more movement options, as well as a weather and day/night cycle. Players will be able to switch freely between versions when it launches some time in 2021. A Nintendo Switch launch is also planned for next year.
