PlanetSide 2 Celebrates 19th Franchise Anniversary, Rolls Out New AMRs And Legacy Skins
Sci-fi MMOFPS PlanetSide 2 is celebrating the franchise’s 19th anniversary with a double XP event that will run from now until May 26th for all players and until May 28th for active subscribers. Developer Rogue Planet Games is also giving away an NS-11C carbine and an NS Harrower melee weapon which can be redeemed using the code “LEGACY2022”.
Players can also purchase legacy weapons and armor, special edition weapons, and classic faction camos on the cash shop until the end of May. A limited-time Legacy Bundle is also for sale, containing a 6-month XP boost, three Perfect account-wide Implants, and new cosmetic versions of classic weapons.
Rogue Planet is also marking the occasion with the addition of new weapons to blow stuff up with in the form of the new faction-specific Anti-Materiel Rifles (AMRs) that were revealed earlier this week.
- DAGR-81 (Terran Republic) - An infantryman's answer to long-range vehicle opposition, with a quick rechamber and large magazine for sustained fire.
- VX4-3 Slicer (Vanu Sovereignty) - This anti-materiel rifle delay-fires a plasma blade that rips through organic material on its way to striking heavily armored targets.
- LA60 Masthead (New Conglomerate) - A hard-hitting anti-materiel rifle that deploys a flak payload when dealing with aircraft.
- NE-36 Linecutter (Nanite Systems Operatives) - In addition to a balanced magazine, reload, and damage, this anti-materiel rifle can also prevent MAX units and infantry deployables from receiving repairs.
The anniversary update also introduces a new AMR Kills directive line for Engineers, improvements to the main menu, options to turn off many HUD indicators, a mobility nerf to the NS-AM7 Archer, and updated spawn mechanics.
