Profane developer Insane Studios is now accepting applications to join their in-development sandbox MMORPG’s first combat playtest.

Insane notes that participants will be testing basic combat and movement in a very early version of the game with no character progression, skills, equipment, inventory management, crafting, building, exploration, and mobs of any kind. Basically, it’s just going to be a bunch of players hacking at each other to help the team gather much-needed data and feedback.

“This is a very raw test over basic combat and movement,” said the studio. “We are mainly testing our netcode with simple features to see how it holds while also bringing our proposal for arcade movement and character control to the community. This way, we get your feedback before adding more complex features to the main project.”

“If you believe this test is not for you, then we ask that you please refrain from registering so you leave room for people that are more interested in this phase of testing, and wait for future tests,” they added. “Selected participants will be required to agree to an NDA.”

Those who’d like to jump in anyway can join the official Profane Discord and fill out this form. Testing is scheduled to start tomorrow, May 18th. Only 60 players will be selected to participate in the test, 30 from Brazil and 30 from everywhere else.
