Since the summer of 2020, EVE Online players have witnessed the Imperium and PAPI (PandaFarm Alliance Please Ignore), two of the strongest alliances in the game, wage record-breaking battles in World War Bee 2.

In a surprising turn of events, one of the largest, most expensive, and longest-running wars in the space simulation MMO seems to have died down as PAPI forces withdraw from the Imperium’s home system, Delve. According to a thread on Reddit, the Imperium coalition managed to hold their ground in a few smaller systems even though they were being attacked on multiple fronts. Reports say that PAPI could no longer sustain a prolonged war due to the recent tax changes in the game, thereby deciding to prematurely end the war and initiate a retreat.

World War Bee 2 is known for one of the most destructive battles in video game history which has come to be known as The Massacre at M2-XFE. Over 5,000 players participated in the massive 14-hour space battle with total losses estimated at roughly $378,000 and setting a Guinness World Record for the costliest video game battle ever.
