Square Enix Bans Streamers Using Third-Party Add-Ons Following Yoshida’s Warning

Square Enix follows up on Naoki Yoshida’s earlier warning against the use of third-party add-ons in Final Fantasy XIV by banning several Japanese and English-speaking streamers. The streamers were reportedly banned because they displayed prohibited tools during their respective streams even though Yoshida specifically told players not to use them.

So far, the community has been very accepting of the move arguing that Square Enix had tried to turn a blind eye and it was only fair since they were already given fair warning. That being said, the recent bans have brought up concerns of fake footages and mass reporting. Ironically, there’s apparently a mod that will allow you to blur character and party member names to avoid being identified and reported.

Of course, the best course of action would be to not do anything that’s against the terms of service to begin with or at least not to show it off for the whole world to see.
