Crema Talks Up Progression Changes Coming In Temtem 1.0 In September

Crema Games has kicked off a “Golden Week” of dev blogs that will highlight the changes coming to Temtem when it fully launches in September. The first blog in the series outlines the progression changes being made to the creature-catching MMORPG’s campaign to tone down its difficulty.

One of the more significant changes to the campaign include a reduction in forced NPC encounters. “One of the most common complaints is the number of forced NPCs you need to beat,” said Crema. “Mandatory NPCs serve a good purpose in giving us control over how the player levels up through the campaign and balancing the game’s difficulty; we don’t want to overshoot this change and generate new issues for players who skip all the optional encounters.”

To that end, the team will be reducing the number of mandatory trainers by 20% throughout the entire campaign. “We believe that this number helps soften the oppressive feeling of having to battle with almost every trainer you see, while still allowing us to keep a good experience and difficulty curve,” the team said.

To compensate for the experience lost from the encounters, Crema will also be increasing XP gains from both mandatory and optional trainers and reducing the XP reduction modifier for “over-leveled” Temtems by 50%. XP bonuses will also be awarded to the “benched” half of a team when playing in co-op mode and the total XP gained from battling endgame Tems in Tuwai’s Shrines will be increased by around 80%.

Crema will also be boosting the stat distribution of Luma Tem, removing their “speed curse”, and will be increasing the odds of obtaining them by 33%. Radars will also be tweaked to make it easier to acquire them and use them to obtain rare Temtems. A Soulbinder item will also be added that can be used to bind a Tem to its current owner and allow the owner to use Telomere Hotfixes on them.

These changes and more will be coming to Temtem when it finally transitions from Early Access to full release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on September 6th with full cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms. You can find out more about the upcoming progression and Luma changes in the full dev blog on the Temtem official site.
