Left 4 Dead goes sci-fi in Stray Bombay’s new retro sci-fi co-op shooter – The Anacrusis. Instead of the undead, players will face off against unending alien hordes aboard a massive starship stuck in the farthest reaches of deep space.

The Anacrusis will offer full cross-platform support at launch and will initially come with several short replayable missions with free post-launch episodic content planned for release in the future. One of the game’s key features is the AI driver which controls enemy, boss, weapon, and health kit spawns on the fly so no two runs are ever the same.

“In The Anacrusis, the AI Driver controls every aspect of the game,” touts the devs. “It spawns every enemy, directs each boss, and places every weapon, gadget, and health kit. No matter your skill level, you'll find the perfect level of challenge. More than that, the AI Driver creates the kinds of video game moments that you can’t wait to tell your friends about.”

Stray Bombay is a newly-formed studio headed by veteran developers Kimberly Voll, a former Riot Games designer, and Chet Faliszek, a former Valve writer whose credits include Half Life 2, Portal, and you guessed it, Left 4 Dead.

The Anacrusis launches this fall on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Windows Store, as well as on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s still unclear whether Stray Bombay plans to release the game on PlayStation consoles. Sorry PlayStation folks.
