World Of Titans Falls Short Of Kickstarter Goal, Pulls Demo, And Starts Selling Founder’s Packs

World of Titans is an upcoming MMORPG from Archage Studios with a rather controversial history. The short of it is that the IP was allegedly stolen from the now-defunct indie developer Square Root Studios who was working on an MMORPG of their own called TitanReach until its founder was accused of misappropriating funds and both the studio and the project was shut down.

To lend credence to Square Root’s claims, Archage (not to be confused with ArcheAge) initially named the game Titan Reach (with a space) before it was renamed to World of Titans.

While the accusations weren’t necessarily proven, it did affect the community’s perception of both the studio and the game, presumably causing Archage’s Kickstarter campaign to fall well short of its $100,000 funding goal. The crowdfunding drive only managed to raise a grand total of $5,283 from 19 backers before the month-long timer ran out.

On top of the failed Kickstarter campaign, the demo that was released alongside it and that was supposed to be available until May 1st had been pulled as of last week, reportedly due to issues with Unreal Engine.

“[…] We continued to have problems with Unreal Engine 4.26 and felt it was only doing the game misjustice,” explained Archage. “For that reason, we made the decision to pull the demo down so we can get ready for the Unreal Engine 5.1 version.”

Meanwhile, the studio is continuing to sell founder’s packs on the World of Titans official site, starting at $7 for the lowest tier which gets you into the backer’s list but not a copy of the game. To get a digital copy you’ll have to pony up at least $19 for the next tier. The $19 pack will be limited to just 250 copies, although not a single one has been sold as of this writing.

From there, the pack prices jump up to $59, $99, $349, $2500, and finally to a whopping $5000 for the grandaddy of all World of Titans founder packs. Aside from the $19 pack, it’s unclear what each of the other founder’s packs have to offer aside from the promise of becoming “an official backer for World of Titans, a limited time offer that will never return once World of Titans goes live.”

It’s worth noting that Archage Studios only has one other game to its name: an open world survival horror MMO called End of Days that’s been de-listed from Steam, something worth considering if you’re thinking about investing in World of Titans. The studio also teased “something huge” coming, so you might want to hold off if you’ve somehow been enticed to throw money at the game.
