World Of Warcraft Details Shadowlands Threads Of Fate Mechanics

world of warcraft shadowlands northrend bannerProgression in World of Warcraft has always been a rather linear experience. You start off in one zone, complete a few quests, then head on to the next zone in the storyline until you ultimately reach the endgame zone. Shadowlands, however, comes with a new feature called Threads of Fate that will allow your alts to explore the afterlife and level up in a non-linear and more engaging way. Blizzard Entertainment details how it works in a new post:

“Shadowlands offers a new leveling experience with Threads of Fate. This new game mode allows you to level your other characters in the Shadowlands by selecting a Covenant prior to level 60, choosing which zones you want to level up in regardless of level, and earn rewards to benefit your Covenant as you level up. Along the way, you’ll have access to some of your Covenant’s amenities including flight paths, signature abilities, and you can get a head start on earning your Covenant’s Renown by depositing Anima you collect into their reservoir.”

To gain access to the new feature, you must have first reached level 60 and completed the chapter of your chosen Covenant’s campaign. Once you complete Anduin’s “Stand as One” quest in the Maw with your level 50-59 alt, you’ll automatically be transported to Oribos where you can talk to Fatescribe Roh-Tahl to choose the Threads of Fate option. Keep in mind that once you choose Threads of Fate, there’s no going back to the main storyline.

After choosing Threads of Fate, you’ll be asked to choose your Covenant and the zone that you want to adventure in. You’ll then be transported to your chosen zone and will get a progress bar quest that you can fill by completing side quests, bonus objectives, world quests, and by defeating rare elites and dungeon bosses. Once you’ve completed the progress bar quest, you can turn it in to Fatescribe Roh-Tahl for a large experience reward and to select another zone to explore. Threads of Fate will automatically end once you reach level 60.
