One of the most-anticipated features coming to World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is Dragonriding which will allow you to soar through the skies above the Dragon Isles atop you very own customizable drake. While you could already do that in Azeroth with your rare dragon mounts, they ain’t got nothing on Dragonflight’s drakes.

You’ll be able to unlock four different types of drakes as you journey through the Dragon Isles. These drakes can be customized using unlockable appearances that can be swapped out and adjusted to make each dragon mount unique. Additional appearance options and looks can be obtained from the new Drakewatcher manuscripts and from quest rewards, completing achievements, and exploration.

Dragonriding will also come with its own progression track that will allow you to unlock more abilities, increase your drake’s Vigor (Stamina), and more. To advance through the progression track, you’ll need to look for and fly through Dragon Glyphs scattered across the skies above the Dragon Isles. Some glyphs will be relatively easy to acquire, while others will be trickier to obtain and will require some exploration and clever use of your drake’s skills.

You’ll also be able to participate in Dragonriding Races to put your Dragonriding skills to the test. “All over the Dragon Isles, you will find various Dragonriding race locations that will challenge you to complete a set course within a limited timeframe,” explains Blizzard. “Clearing checkpoints extends your allotted time, and once you finish a course, you’ll be rated on your performance. Your personal best times will be recorded, and whenever you repeat a course, your time will be compared against your personal best. Challenge other Dragonriders to the ultimate test of skill and speed—only the fastest rider will prevail.”

“A skilled Dragonrider is a force to be reckoned with, capable of catching up to any foe, ambushing enemies from above, and soaring above the Dragon Isles with impressive speed,” adds the devs. “Becoming a Dragonrider and learning the basics will be simple, but mastering this new skill takes practice. Once you figure out its intricacies, you’ll never see the Dragon Isles the same way again.”
