It looks like Blizzard Entertainment is finally getting around to removing annoying and unneeded features from World of Warcraft. Just last week, the studio revealed their plans to remove the Mission Table system come Dragonflight. Now, the they’ve announced that they will soon be removing the School of Hard Knocks requirement to obtain the Violet Proto-Drake mount.

Clearing School of Hard Knocks required players to complete several tasks with your orphan in battlegrounds during Children’s Week. After 14 years of complaints, Blizzard has finally decided to do away with the tedious requirement and will be making it entirely optional.

The change will be implemented as part of a hotfix that the team will be deploying soon. While it won’t affect those who’ve already unlocked the mount and associated achievement (which is probably most players), it’s still a very welcome change.

Meanwhile, the team is gearing up for the release of 2013’s Fury of the Sunwell update on The Burning Crusade Classic servers. The update will mark the conclusion of the The Burning Crusade’s storyline and will open up the final raid of the expansion: Sunwell Plateau.
