World Of Warcraft Taken Offline For Emergency Maintenance Due To Trading Post Issues

Today marked the opening of World of Warcraft’s new Trading Post cosmetic shop, but things didn’t go quite as planned on opening day. Players complained about not receiving bought items, disappearing items and Trader’s Tender (Trading Post currency), and losing progress on their Traveler’s Log.

For context, players could earn additional Trader’s Tenders by completing a long list of tasks, quests, and dungeons from the new Traveler’s Log. Unfortunately, all that work seems to have been for naught. Some players only had part of their progress reverted, but others reported losing everything.

In response, Blizzard took the game offline for extended maintenance and temporarily disabled the Trading Post while they work on a fix. Players who were able to take the Trading Post for a test run on the public test realm before it went live noted that the feature was working fine during testing and that the developers probably added something to mess it up between then and its release.

No timeline has been given for when the Trading Post will be back online, although with the recent layoffs, it might take longer than expected, as one player pointed out on the official forums.

“Stop, it’s just a handful of people working on this game. We need to be more patient with indie companies, they’re doing their best,” the player wrote.
