Get ready to venture forth into the northernmost end of Azeroth next week with the opening of the Ulduar raid in Wrath of the Lich King Classic. The ancient Titan facility officially opens its doors on January 19th.

“For millennia, Ulduar has remained undisturbed by mortals, far away from their concerns and their struggles. Yet since its recent discovery, many have wondered what the structure’s original purpose may have been. Some thought it a city, built to herald the glory of its makers; some thought it a vault containing innumerable treasures, perhaps even relics of the mighty Titans themselves. Such speculations were wrong. Beyond Ulduar’s gates lies no city, no treasure vault, no final answer to the Titan’s mysteries. All that awaits those who dare set foot in Ulduar is a horror even the Titans could not, would not destroy, an evil they merely... contained.”

To set the stage for the level 80 raid’s opening, Blizzard will be rolling out a big update on January 17th that will include major changes to dungeon and raid emblems as well as the addition of a new emblem type called the Emblem of Conquest. The new emblem can be obtained from all the bosses in Ulduar and the from the daily “Proof of Demise” heroic dungeon quests and new Emblem of Conquest vendors will be in the Sunreaver’s Sanctuary in Dalaran.

As for the existing emblems, Emblems of Valor, will be obtainable from all heroic dungeon bosses and from the “Timear Foresees…” normal dungeon daily quests while Emblems of Heroism will be removed from heroic dungeon bosses. To get Emblems of Heroism, players will need to exchange their Emblems of Conquest at any money changer in Dalaran.

In the meantime, you can chill with music from Mike Shinoda in his cover of Arthas, My Son for Wrath of the Lich King.
