Exteel was a 3D sci-fi themed MMO third person shooter. Players battled with up to 16 opponents per match in giant mechs that were customized using hundreds of available parts, weapons, and skills.

Exteel Overview
Exteel was one of the first free to play Mech shooters, and offered a variety of game modes. Players earned credits by participating in competitive or cooperative matches and used those credits to purchase new skills, equipment, and weapons from the shop. Items could be purchased for a set time duration, or based on durability. Gamers looking for a mech shooter can try SD Gundam Capsule Fighter or MechWarrior Online.

Development History / Background:
NCsoft's intention to close Exteel was revealed on December 22, 2009 when they termianted their license to Exteel SEA. It is thought that NCsoft made the decision to close Exteel based on low revenues from the title, and their recent loss of $28 million USD in a lawsuit over the failed MMORPG Tabula Rasa.
