Shards Online is a unique buy to play MMORPG from Citadel Studios that's heavily inspired by one of the Oldest MMORPGs - Ultima Online. As of this video, Shards Online is currently in Pre-Alpha 3 and still has a whiles to go before full release. The game features a unique shard system where players can host their own custom servers with their own rulesets. Characters can jump from server to server that share the exact same rules, but characters created on one ruleset though cannot move to another server with a different ruleset. This allows the game to feature everything from hardcore PvP with permadeath to more standard MMO rules. The game is without a doubt VERY heavily inspired by Ultima Online, so if you were a fan of classic sandbox MMOs like UO and Runescape, Shards Online is worth checking out.
