Albion Online’s next major update, Horizons, is on the horizon and it promises to shake up the treacherous Outlands zones and beyond. And like clockwork, Game Director Robin Henkys is back with a new developer video where he breaks down the major changes that Horizons will bring to the free-to-play sandbox MMORPG’s open world, right from the comfort of his director’s chair.

Horizons focuses on making the Outlands more accessible, challenging, and rewarding. Henkys mentions that the team’s goal is to create “a more lively, accessible, and rewarding Outlands experience,” especially for smaller groups and solo players. Guilds, don’t worry—you’ll still have plenty of reasons to fight for territory and control.

The standout feature? The brand-new, aptly-named S.A.F.E. Portal. For a small silver fee, you can teleport to a random Outlands cluster—no more nervously eyeing the roads while you travel. Need to head back? You can return through the portal within 90 minutes, making this feature a tempting option for those who want to dip into the Outlands without risking it all.

PvE fans also have reason to cheer. Dynamic Solo and Veteran mob camps are coming, offering short-term treasure hunts guarded by NPC factions. These camps move around and only stick around for a limited time, so you’ll have to stay on your toes if you want the loot. And in true sandbox MMO fashion, rewards and mob difficulty will scale depending on the region's risk level, letting you choose your adventure or path to doom.

If you’re feeling extra daring, new region quality scaling will increase rewards as you get closer to the Outlands’ center, but beware—there’s a player count indicator now that tells you roughly how many other players (read: threats) are lurking nearby.

And don’t forget about dungeons. Horizons will also overhaul veteran dungeons, with group size-based rewards and dungeons that lock after you enter, which should help keep pesky PKers at bay.
